K-Tape or Kinesiology Tape - Best ways to apply?

K-Tape or Kinesiology Tape - Best ways to apply?

Things to remember when applying K-Tape (Also known as Kinesiology Tape)

Apply 30 minutes before activity

Make sure you allow the adhesive time to stick. If you apply it too soon, and then sweat, unfortunately it will come off almost straight away.

Round the edges of the k-tape

Cornered edges don't stick down well. For longer laster, less friction, make sure you round the edges of the kinesiology tape.

Rub it with your hands once applied

The adhesive in the tape will react to temperature. More heat, the better the stick. Give it a quick rub once applied and it will really improve the adhesion.

Do not over-stretch Kinesiology Tape

Too much stretch, and the skin will become stretches underneath and it may irritate your skin. The middle of the tape should be stretched, not the ends of the k-tape therefore ensure this when applying.

Don't leave on for more than 48 hours

Try not to leave K-Tape on for more than 48 hours. If you have sensitive skin, be particularly careful. Try not to leave the kinesiology tape on for more than 48 hours in total.

If it gets wet - take it off immediately afterwards

It is not a problem to get your k-tape wet. Events such as swimming, or where you may sweat more are fine. However, it may need to skin irritation, or earlier reduction in the strength of the adhesive. Therefore we recommend taking off immediately after activity if you get it wet.
